About the Quest
Idea Quest offers an exciting opportunity for GVSU Lakers from ALL MAJORS to turn their ideas into real-world solutions. Whether you're studying engineering, business, healthcare, or the arts, this competition challenges you to identify problems and propose innovative answers that can make a difference. You’ll gain valuable skills that set you apart in your career, while competing, collaborating, and innovating with peers from across disciplines. Showcase your creativity and problem-solving abilities in front of faculty, mentors, and the community. Each college will award a $500 College Champion Award, and the top ideas will compete for up to $3,000 in prizes. This is your chance to solve problems, make an impact, and drive innovation at GVSU—don’t miss it!
JOIN THE QUEST
- Start the quest by submitting a video 2 minutes or less or a 5 slide powerpoint explaining a problem you’ve noticed and give your IDEA of a solution. The top 77 will move on to the next round.
- JUDGING CRITERIA
- Impact (25%) - The issue is compelling and the idea clearly addresses the identified issue.
- Feasibility (25%) - The idea is grounded in reality, uses existing technology, or presents a realistic plan to create new technology.
- Creativity (25%) - The idea brings a brand new approach to the problem or adds a novel feature to existing technologies.
- Delivery (25%) - The idea is explained with clarity through slides or video presentation. Or, is well-pitched in the Final Quest.
- SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE JANUARY 20, 2025
- Top Questers will be announced February 10, 2025
- In the second part of the quest, the Top 77 Questers will campaign for votes around the GVSU community. Questers with the most votes will move on to the final round Top 7 students will be announced March 17, 2025

In the final part of the quest, the Top 7 Questers will put together a 5 minute Shark Tank-style pitch which will include slides and complete with a short Q&A
Prizes
- 1st place: $3,000
- 2nd place: $2,000
- 3rd place: $1,000
- Each college will give a $500 College Champion Award
