Web3 & Blockchain Transformation Awards Overview

The Web3 & Blockchain Transformation Awards—formerly known as the Enterprise Blockchain Awards—recognize the innovators, advocates, entrepreneurs, leaders, and researchers who are making a measurable difference within their organizations and driving global blockchain transformation.

Award Categories

Now in its fourth year, nominations are invited from around the world for the following six award categories:

Awards for Individuals:

Blockchain Frontier Award – educators, researchers, or scientists who have made exceptional gains in advancing our knowledge of the transformative power of blockchain technology.
Blockchain Leadership Award – individuals who have shown exceptional leadership in driving blockchain collaboration or implementation within an enterprise, an industry, a government, or a multi-stakeholder organization.

Awards for Organizations:

Blockchain Entrepreneurship Award – start-up companies or technology projects delivering innovative blockchain applications, protocols, or platforms that address blockchain implementation challenges in business, government, and nonprofit contexts.
Blockchain Services Award – providers of blockchain technologies and services that are working to transform their clients’ operations, supply chains, or ecosystems. This award celebrates the tangible and long-term change that blockchain service providers are working to support.
Enterprise Transformation Award – organizations using blockchain and intersecting technologies to transform their operations, industry, supply chain, or ecosystem. This award celebrates the tangible and long-term change that organizations are working to achieve.

Awards for Individuals OR Organizations:

Blockchain for Good Award – *New* for 2022, the Blockchain for Good Award recognizes individuals or organizations that are using blockchain technology to advance the sustainability and well-being of life on our planet. Nominees in this category are tackling global challenges such as reducing inequality, combating climate change, improving health and education, and preserving aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. They are defining and measuring their progress in terms of the environment, social, and governance (ESG) framework that many companies and investors have increasingly embraced.

Please note: You are welcome to submit nominations to multiple award categories, however please ensure that each submission has been tailored to meet the criteria of the appropriate category. Submissions that are identical will only be considered for one award category.

Explanation of Judging Rounds

Submissions will undergo three rounds of judging:

Judging Round 1

During Round 1, submissions for all categories will be scored holistically at the application level. Submissions will advance to Round 2 if they are complete, if all responses answer the questions asked, and all responses are original. Submissions will be eliminated during Round 1 if they are incomplete or if they are not suitable for the chosen category.

Judging Round 2

During Round 2, responses to each question will be scored by a minimum of two judges using the following rubric:

0 points: No clear case is made for the nominee. Response lacks detail.
1 point: The case made for this nominee is weak. Response is mostly clear but contains few specific details.
2 points: The case made for this nominee is satisfactory. Response is clear and somewhat specific.
3 points: The case made for this nominee is good. Response is clear, specific, and detailed.
4 points: The case made for this nominee is strong and convincing. Response is clear, specific, and comprehensive.

Aggregate scores from Round 2 will be used to produce a shortlist of finalists in each award category. At the discretion of the judging panel, 2-3 subcategories may be generated for each award category based on the content and quality of the submissions received. A total of three applications will be short-listed for each award (sub-)category. Finalists will be notified by email by the end of September 2022. Each finalist will receive two complimentary tickets to the Blockchain Transformation Awards Gala in Toronto on November 8, 2022.

Judging Round 3 (Selection of Winners)

During Round 3, the judging panel will rank their choice of winners for each award subcategory from among the shortlisted candidates.

Winners will be announced at the Web3 & Blockchain Transformation Awards Gala in Toronto, Canada, on November 8, 2022.

Attributes of Winning Submissions

In general, winning submissions exhibit the following characteristics:

They respond to all aspects of the question prompt within the allocated response field using clear and specific details.
They very clearly describe the problem to be solved, what strategy was being invoked to solve it, and what the goals of the project are.
They demonstrate real market results rather than good ideas or plans for the future. For example, rather than saying “We believe in x, and envision a future where we can do a, b, and c,” they would say “To achieve our goal of x, we did a, b, and c. Results were measured using d.”
They use concrete language to describe their blockchain solution. For example, rather than saying “we designed our product to do x,” they would say “our product does x.” (This helps judges distinguish blockchain concepts/designs from actual implementations)
They avoid simply listing features of their product, and instead explain how their solution is producing value and being impactful.

Fee & Submission Deadline

All nominations are subject to a $100.00 USD processing fee. The deadline for submitting a nomination is August 31, 2022.
