The Central Coast Youth Week awards honour young people that have gone the extra mile for the Central Coast community and who are positive role models for other young people within the region.
Local community members, schools, and local services were encouraged to nominate a young person who they feel is worthy of this great honour.
Eligibilty Criteria
General
- Nominations Open 9am, Monday 7 October 2024
- Nominations Close 5pm, Sunday 23 February 2025
- Central Coast Youth Week Awards Night – 10 April
- Late nominations will not be accepted.
- Paper, written or verbal nominations will not be accepted.
- All nominations must be received via application form.
- The decision of the Central Coast Youth Week Awards Selection Panel is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The Selection Panel reserves the right to move nominations to a category they deem to be more appropriate.
Eligibility Criteria
The nominee:
- Must be an Australian Citizen and must live in the Central Coast Local Government area.
- Will have made a significant community contribution in their nominated category.
- Should be a role model that people can aspire to.
- Should be someone Council can advertise and promote as such.
- The nominee and the nominator must be separate individuals (i.e., you cannot nominate yourself).
- Unsuccessful nominees may be re-nominated in the same award category in subsequent years.
- Ages are correct as of 10 April 2025.
- Categories are open to young people aged 12 – 24 years.
- Previous winners can not be nominated for the same award category.
2025 Central Coast Youth Week Awards Categories
The selection criteria below MUST be addressed in the award nomination submission.
Arts and Entertainment Award
- An individual who has achieved / demonstrated excellence in their chosen art form.
- Someone who has made a significant contribution to the development of their chosen art form through innovative approaches and/or consistent effort.
Community Service and Activity Award
- An individual who has made a significant contribution to a local community service and has been responsible for / or involved in a community activity that benefits young people and / or the community as a whole.
- Someone who has demonstrated the ability and / or understanding of building community capacity, community engagement and evaluating outcomes / benefits for the community from the delivered activity.
Environment and Ethical Sustainability Award
- An individual who has / is actively making the Central Coast a place where people and the environment can thrive.
- Someone who has made a significant contribution to the environment and sustainability in local programs or events for young people, or the community as a whole.
First Nations Cultural Award
- An individual who has made a significant contribution to their community or have taken a leading role in achieving better outcomes for First Nations people.
- Someone who has made a significant contribution to First Nations culture in local programs or events for young people, or First Nations people as a whole.
Social Impact in Education / Community Award
- An individual who has / is actively making a social impact in their school or community through innovative approaches and/or consistent effort.
- Someone who has made a significant contribution to social activism.
Youth Sportsperson Award
- An individual who has achieved and shown acts of sportsmanship and team building.
- Someone who has been an outstanding sportsperson, or who has made a significant contribution as a key organiser of sport.
Youth Entrepreneur Award
- An individual who has demonstrated entrepreneurial skills and innovative thinking to successfully launch / manage a business or project.
- An individual whose business / project has made an impact and / or has demonstrated sustainability.
- Someone who has shown a significant contribution in leadership and teamwork within a business or project and the ability to overcome challenges.
Youth Leadership (Individual) Award
- An individual who has demonstrated strong leadership abilities and potential.
- An individual who has demonstrated the ability to inspire and motivate others.
- Someone who has utilised effective communication and collaboration skills to lead impactful initiatives or campaigns for young people.
- Someone who has demonstrated personal growth and commitment to leadership.
Youth Leadership (Group) Award
- A group who has made a significant contribution to their community or have taken a leading role in achieving better outcomes for young people, or the community as a whole.
- A group who has achieved high levels in their chosen field and acts as an inspiration and role models to their peers.
Youth Volunteer Award
- An individual who has made a significant contribution to regular and meaningful engagement in volunteer activities which has a significant impact and / or contribution to the community.
- Someone who has demonstrated collaboration and teamwork with other volunteers, commitment and dedication to volunteer work, and leadership and initiative in volunteer projects.
2025 Central Coast Youth Week Awards - Nominator Award Category
Criteria for the Nominator Award
- The school or service must nominate at least one young person for a Central Coast Youth Week Award.
- The school or service must be based within the Central Coast Local Government Area (LGA).
- Must use the award towards a program or activity that benefits young people.
- Must report the Award’s benefit or outcome for young people within the LGA to Central Coast Council by 31 December 2025.
- Be willing to participate in marketing and promotion of any benefit or outcome for young people within the LGA with Central Coast Council, where appropriate.
